Description
Software package that uses Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to simulate compressible flows through local flow restrictions. It helps to determine total pressure losses and corresponding non-dimensional coefficients as well as discharge coefficients with account for (maybe rather strong) compressibility effects.
It is applicable for compressible flows with high Reynolds (Re) numbers and for restriction shapes restricted to 2D. More accurate results can be obtained for restrictions with flow separation induced "geometrically", i.e.
where substantial and sudden flow contraction/expansion occurs. Horsepower Lab 2D can be used to tentatively predict the discharge characteristics for real life local flow restrictions like internal combustion engine ports, valves, etc.
